Community Outreach

The Kalmia Club offers scholarship opportunities to young women who are furthering their education after graduating from South Hunterdon Regional High School and New Hope Solebury High School. We also offer a continuing education scholarship to any woman living in these school districts age 22 years and older. Applications typically open January-February of each year.

We award our scholarships to exceptional women who embody our scholarship ethos of IMPACT. Each letter of the IMPACT acronym represents a characteristic or spirit of culture that defines our recipients.

Preserving the structural and aesthetic integrity of our clubhouse is part of Kalmia’s mission. It is a historical landmark, recognized by the U.S. Department of the Interior in the State and National Register of Historical Places

Few clubs have the good fortune of having their own clubhouse. Many meet in public spaces, which they must rent or reserve. We are so grateful to have a place we can call home and honored to be her guardians since 1910.

As every homeowner knows, it takes ongoing resources to maintain a building. Support towards this effort is greatly appreciated.

The Girls Career Institute (GCI) offers a “mini college experience” at Douglass Residential College on the Rutgers campus in New Brunswick, NJ. It is open to current year junior girls at South Hunterdon Regional High School (SHRHS). They will experience a snapshot of college life by living in a dorm, attending lectures, and meeting other girls from all over New Jersey.

The experience is made possible by the NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs. Delegates are sponsored by the Kalmia Club and other women’s clubs throughout the state.

High School juniors can learn about and apply for the Girls Career Institute through the SHRHS guidance counselor's office.

Here are some of the ways the Kalmia Club contributes, or has contributed in the past, through Community Outreach.

▶ Organizing annual blood drives with the American Red Cross.

▶ Providing food, personal care items, household supplies, and monetary donations to local organizations, including: Anderson House, Arm in Arm, Delaware Valley Food Pantry, Fisherman’s Mark, Homefront, Lambertville Free Public Library, and One Warm Scarf.

▶ Contributing to the local Community Lunch program.

▶ Participating in the NJSFWC Special State Project and the GFWC National Day of Service to address current social challenges.

▶ Contributing to the annual Wrapping Presence® program, which provided residents in elder living with gifts to share with their families at the holidays. This program, to which Kalmia Club donated annually for many years, closed in 2025.
